holy shit Nurkic is good
[–]Trail Blazers SelrinBanerbe 72
We've been telling r/nba he's better than CJ for a while now.
[–]Pistons SignificantChapter 68
CJ was unstoppable today
[–]Trail Blazers SelrinBanerbe 66
And the day he learns to stop others he'll be one of the best players in the league, but defense is half the game.
[–]Lakers rawchess 171
18/9/5/2/6...jesus that's a Hakeem statline
[–]Trail Blazers bigbeerd 122
Correction. That's a Nurkić statline.
[–][POR] Brandon Roy NevermoreSEA 501
He had such a well rounded game.
[–][POR] Robin Lopez ben-pdf 7
Most underrated center in the league in my biased opinion.
I genuinely think his skill set is somewhere between Embiid and Jokic.
[–]Mavericks DirkNowitzkisWife 25
Didn’t realize he had 6 blocks and 2 steals holy shit
He's the player people wanted Boogie to be
He really did. The blocks, passing, post moves, drives. He makes the team so much better, it's insane.
[–]Trail Blazers Seananigans 69
Haha, this is what us Blazer fans have been saying for over a year. His contribution to the team feels criminally underrated to me from all the comments I see on reddit.
We missed our Bosnian Beast!
[–][POR] Damian Lillard mccainjames11 111
Thought he was on his way to a 5x5 in the 2nd quarter lol
[–]Moose AMZN 215
Before Nurk hurt himself, the blazers had the second highest point differential per 100 possessions in the NBA, somewhere around 10-11, behind Milwaukie.
Without Nurk, I think they were -2.
He is a HUGE part of Portland's success.
[–][ATL] Lou Williams TraeYoungsBaldSpot 40
He keeps the ball moving. Without him, it's a "your turn, my turn" iso fest. Dame is a lot of things, but he's not an elite facilitator. He's good, but he needs help, and Nurk provides it.
[–]Trail Blazers PlutoniumArchitect 23
We finally have someone besides Dame who can move the ball around.
[–][POR] Damian Lillard NotAFratBoi 21
Such good screens too
[–]Lakers xanot192 11
Must feel good to have centers again
[–]Trail Blazers Soap_MacLavish 145
His defensive presence cannot be overstated and advanced stats agree w the eye test.
I didn’t expect him to be this good this soon. He barely has any rust at all. I think betting against the Blazers getting the 8th seed might be the risky move now.
[–]Trail Blazers EvanTurningTheCorner 36
Or maybe he does have rust and he's gonna get even better.
Yeah, let's go with that.
[–][POR] Dan Dickau OwenRey 264

Bubble Melo is one of the clutches players in the league. Who would've thought?
[–]Bucks razen21 401
Clutch why no one wanted this guy lmao
[–]Raptors chicogarciamarquez 48
Cause he didn't play in the Big 3 /s
[–]Lakers CravingKoreanFood 258
i like skinny melo
[–]Trail Blazers max_canyon 150
You won’t like him when you see him in the first round;-)))
[–][TOR] Amir Johnson IanicRR 265
He probably thinks it’s the Olympic with everyone gathered in the same place. And we all know how Olympic Melo gets down.
[–][NYK] Carmelo Anthony karma457 62
Literally stood there wide open in the corner for like 20 straight possessions and they finally passed it to him lol
[–]Trail Blazers Debannage 444
I wanted him to hit that 3rd 3 so bad
[–]Trail Blazers PuzzleheadedWest0 22
Can’t believe Memphis just left him there three possessions in a row.
[–]Nuggets EmbraceComplexity 264
2/3 in the clutch is pretty good. Him making all 3 would've been wild.
That’d be a career highlight, and Melo’s had one hell of a career already.
[–]Trail Blazers ScrapinLinden 206
What do you mean? According to r/nba he was never good and is useless now
[–]Trail Blazers AthensGadfly 117
I'm sure I'm overreacting, but I think for the first time ever, Melo sees himself as part of something bigger, rather than a big thing. Couldn't find a reason to criticize him after this game, and I mean that more as how he played as a teammate than how he played in the clutch.
[–]Knicks UnableComb 26
Offense aside, he was a beast on defense for the vast majority of the game. There were possessions where he'd help on two different guys in the same play, then still get back in front of his own man to cut off the driving lane.
[–][POR] Evan Turner AdrianMojnarowski 126
Melo played some really good defense. He did a great job in the interior
[–]Lakers Paranoides 84
I know this is a little unrelated with your comment but people were over critisizing him. He was one of the greatest scorers in his prime. Even though he is definetly not in his prime right now, he is still capable of doing a lot of good things. People were bashing him like he can’t even lift his arms no more.
That's the problem with this sub, either you're an incredibly elite superstar, or you're a barely competent scrub. There's no room in between.
Rockets did him dirty.
[–]Rockets crankohara 8
Melo wasn’t a good fit in Houston because he’s ball dominant and plays awful defense. Harden, Westbrook and Gordon are all better with the ball in their hands and so his biggest impact on a game to game basis was his awful D. He’s good enough to be in the league still but not good enough to get minutes on most (any?)contending teams.
[–]Trail Blazers ScrapinLinden 52
He has played really fucking well all year for us. Sure there have been some down games but he knows his role and fits in with the guys perfectly. Not to mention he was weirdly super good on defense this game.
[–]Back handofdoom 7
We need to ban anyone who ever joked or said anything critical of Melo. The dude is a baller and anyone who so much as doubted him deserves to be erased from this sub.
This sub has spent the last 3 years trashing this man day in day out and now when it's popular to like Melo you act like you always believed in him.
[–]Suns KushOJ 38
Melo still clutch
CJ is one of the smoothest and most skilled offensive players in the league
Nurkic is a beast
JJJ gonna be a monster
[–][DAL] Wang Zhizhi suzukigun4life 178
JJJ more 3s than Dame and CJ combined? Five lead changes in the final minute and a half of regulation? Melo with multiple clutch shots? Memphis roaring back in the final 2 minutes of OT after falling behind by double digits? This was one of the craziest games of the year.
[–]Trail Blazers Driew27 57
Dame is dealing with some foot issues right now so it's been nice that CJ has stepped up for him.
[–]Lakers NarstyHobbitses 498
The Grizzlies are spookier than the Wolves ever were, but goddamn it.
I do not want to see Portland in the first round.
[–]Nuggets EmbraceComplexity 257
Portland's schedule is insanely hard down the stretch. This was their easiest game besides the Nets. They still have a steep hill to climb.
[–]Trail Blazers Nightbynight 142
Very unlikely we make it but this is the first step needed.
I’m pulling for you guys. It’s a hard road, but seeing it happen would mean some more games like today’s. I’m all for it, go get it!
[–]Thunder iCarpet 55
This is a great win for the Blazers in terms of standings and if they want to complete their comeback story.
The race for the playoffs next year in the West is going to be crazy with a healthy Blazers team and a healthy Warriors team back to make a push. In addition, so many other teams are trying to get in too.
[–]Jazz bigg_pete 79
Portland are dangerous!
[–]Trail Blazers pat_the_bat_316 28
Imagine if the Blazers win a championship while protesters are still doing their thing. Portland going to be wild that night! Haha
[–]Trail Blazers kalerin 12
Is it a parade or a protest? Who knows!
[–]Trail Blazers pat_the_bat_316 7
The most Portland thing ever would be a Blazers championship parade being led by a bunch of white people in Blazers jerseys yelling "Black Lives Matter!", and then instead of lighting random cars on fire, we burn down the Justice Center!
[–]Lakers CoontaKinte 4
I really want Portland to make the playoffs but also really don't want my Lakers to play them the first round...dame and CJ are so fast and now they got solid big men in nurk Collins and Whiteside. And it's just one game but if melo keeps shooting like this I'm legit terrified of this matchup for my Lakers
[–][MIL] Tony Snell Frogman417 48
Melo clutch as fuck.
Gary Trent is legit. Hot shooting, solid defense. That +20 is definitely indicative of his impact.
[–]Trail Blazers Allen_Crabbe 156
Gary Trent Jr: 17 pts/5 3pts led all players with a +20 +/-
[–][PHI] T.J. McConnell SamTheSidekick 56
gary trent jr is so good man. defense on ja was so good all game
[–][POR] Brandon Roy NevermoreSEA 57
He's been so good this year.
[–]Grand Floridian moneybooy 140
Gary Trent was your best defender this game, this guy is a fucking pest on D
[–][POR] Hasheem Thabeet Montigue 110
Imo Nurk was better, but GTJ's defense was more clutch
[–]Trail Blazers fowaddaud 45
He's such a good defender, it's crazy. Like he's our best perimeter defender by a mile, and he's only been getting rotation minutes for like 30 games
[–][NYK] Nazr Mohammed mw734 724
great move by terry stotts to bring in gary trent instead of whiteside when nurkic fouled out. coaches get a lot of criticism for poor rotations but
blazers went on a 19-6 run (counting OT) after he came in
[–]Trail Blazers MrDurden32 280
Gary Trent is well on his way to being an ELITE 3&D guy.
[–]Grand Floridian moneybooy 73
His ceiling might be Shane Battier if he keeps improving
[–][POR] Detlef Schrempf Frosti11icus 18
He's not as big as Battier. He's really more of a 2.
[–]Trail Blazers CostlyAxis 143
He’s going to be another Wes Matthews
[–]Trail Blazers EvanTurningTheCorner 24
This is the best comp in my mind. Pre-ACL Matthews, but actually a lot quicker.
[–]Trail Blazers sturg78 151
Whiteside had himself a game in the worst kind of way. Coming off the bench must have tweaked his mind a bit. Assuming he gets it together, that big man rotation will be nasty.
he was also awful vs the grizz last time we played them so hopefully its just a matchup thing. Ik he's whiteside and all but he's been pretty decent overall
[–]Trail Blazers dylbarlol 25
He's a defensive big man but struggles to guard Jackson cause of speed and Val cause of size.
[–][NOP] Jrue Holiday TobyQueef69 12
Valanciunas seems to really dumpster traditional bigs for whatever reason
[–]Trail Blazers Kingshirez 18
His footwork is great and plays very fundamentally sound on offense
[–]Grizzlies EatDeeply 28
Whiteside is such a profoundly careless and lazy player. There were several plays this game where he just complete abandoned his defensive assignment.
